When a child is supported, a community rises. Our programs turn everyday care into lasting opportunity.

Nutrition Program

Nourishing students today.

Strengthening communities for tomorrow.

Every child deserves the chance to learn, grow, and participate fully in school. But for many students in rural Malawi, hunger stands between them and the classroom. Children often arrive without a morning meal or walk long distances on an empty stomach. Others miss class entirely when food is scarce at home.

Hunger affects focus, attendance, and a child’s ability to thrive in school.

The School Nutrition Program was created to change this. By providing a reliable, daily breakfast to every enrolled student, Encore for Humanity helps remove one of the biggest barriers to learning.

When children are nourished, they show up, engage, and stay in school—and their communities grow stronger with them.

Program Activities:

  • Daily breakfast for 420+ students, ensuring every child starts the day nourished

  • Four local Food Mamas employed through the program, strengthening economic stability for single mothers

  • Training for cooks and volunteers in safe food preparation and storage, building long-term community capacity

Classroom Support & Empowerment Program

Helping create classrooms that

are well-equipped and safe.

So that learning can take center stage.

Across the communities we serve, many children learn in thatched or weather-worn structures with little protection from wind, rain, or heat. Inside, classrooms do not have access to electricity, light, desks, or even a place to keep books dry. Teachers do their best, but without basic tools, students struggle to concentrate, participate, and feel proud of their school environment.

The Classroom Support & Empowerment Program helps strengthen these foundations. Through practical, community-driven improvements — such as providing solar lighting, upgrading classroom structures, and ensuring access to essential learning tools — Encore for Humanity is strengthening teaching and learning conditions, one classroom and one child at a time.

When school environments are stable and welcoming, students can stay focused, teachers feel supported, and families see school as a place where their children are valued. Stronger classrooms don’t just improve learning — they help entire communities believe in what education can make possible.

Program Activities:

  • Safe, reliable solar lighting, bringing consistency and dignity to learning spaces

  • Essential learning materials and personal essentials, uplifting the most vulnerable students

  • Community-driven classroom upgrades, creating safer, stronger places to learn and grow

Secondary School Scholarship Program

Keeping education within reach. Because every bright future deserves a chance to flourish.

In rural Malawi, completing secondary school is rare — not for lack of talent, but because the costs are simply too high. Even when students pass national exams, tuition, uniforms, books, and boarding place education far beyond what most families can afford.

For many young people, opportunity isn’t just out of reach, it’s never been an option. Without a path forward, students are pushed into adult roles far too soon, and the futures they once imagined begin to slip away.

The Scholarship Program exists to change that trajectory. Encore for Humanity provides

comprehensive support so determined learners — especially girls — can continue school with dignity and confidence. With mentorship, regular check-ins, and family engagement, students stay focused, encouraged, and hopeful of their own potential.

Each scholarship serves as an encore of possibility — a renewed chance to dream, grow, and build a future once out of reach.

Program Activities:

  • Ten fully funded scholarships, opening doors to opportunity and continued learning

  • Student selection in partnership with school leaders, prioritizing need, potential, and meaningful impact

  • Holistic support and mentorship, from application through secondary school graduation
